About Day4Camp

Day4Camp helps families who are new to camping. We explain how to choose gear, plan a trip and stay comfortable, so the first trip goes smoothly and the next one is easy to plan.

Who writes

Hi, I'm Cleverson. I started camping when I was 8, and I was a Pathfinder. I have camped in many states in Brazil, around South America and in the United States. I have cooked rustic meals over the fire, built my own camp bathroom and organized camps for groups. Now I do it with my family, and I still hike up a hill now and then, camp at the top and come down the next day. I write what I wish someone had told me before my first trip.

What we do

We publish gear guides, checklists and how-tos for family camping in the United States. Equipment is a means to an end: the goal is a trip where everyone sleeps well, eats well and wants to go again.

How we choose and how we earn

We compare gear by published criteria and say who each product is for and who should skip it. When you buy through our links, we earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Our commitments

  • We tell you who a product is not for.
  • We include what owners complain about, not only what they praise.
  • We say when we tested a product and when we only researched it.
  • We show the date each page was last updated.
